October Book Club Meeting

Postby steffanymaher on Fri Sep 18, 2009 8:11 am

Hey, ladies! Our October book is Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell. We're meeting at Kim Estes' house on Friday, October 16th at 6:30pm.

I'm open to suggestions for the theme for this book! Please post here if you have an idea and also let us know if you can make it or not.

Happy Reading, all! Looking forward to another great Book Club meeting with you! :D

I'm planning to be there. Since the book is about success, perhaps we should all fix our most successful cooking recipes? Amy Smitter

Hey, that's a great idea, Amy! Everyone make your most successful cooking recipes (yes -- I would think that would allow for someone to order pizza :D). Please reply here if you can make it and what you would like to bring for dinner (or dessert, of course!). I have to check and see if I have enough rhubarb in the freezer, but if I do, I'll make a rhubarb crisp a la mode for dessert. YUM! :)

I won't be there this month. Unfortunately I have a committment at the school that night. I'll miss all the "successful" recipes! See you next time.

Okay, I've changed my successful recipe! We picked 12 quarts of raspberries last week and have a freezerful of berries and jam! Soooo, I'll make raspberry shortcake a la mode instead! Super-yum! :D

Hi Everyone,

I am a new member of your club. I was invited by Amy Smitter. I know Kim and Dawn from our early childhood activities and some of you through Amy. I plan to come to the meeting in October. I'm going to have to think on what to bring...I'm looking forward to it. See you in a few weeks.

I plan on coming. I don't know if it's my MOST successful dish, but is one I invented myself. So I'll bring my "Twisted Bean Soup".

See you all soon :)

I figured out what I am successful at making...my grandma's meatball receipe. It tastes just like hers when I make it and I count that as success. So, I'll be bringing barbeque meatballs. See you then.

I will be there too. I will most likely make a cheesecake. We seem to have a lot of desserts though. Perhaps a beef soup instead. We'll see.

Okay, Success, Success, Success...I will feel successful if I finish the book on time... I may make a baked ziti because I have been complimented on this in the past but you know...one wonders if people are just being nice....! We'll see...

Hey, Amy Sheppard -- I think I'm the only other one bringing dessert, and your cheesecakes are definitely successful, so please bring one (or two)! :D
